What this does
Creating an invoice records a sale and sends a payment request to your customer. Relentify tracks the outstanding balance, updates your aged receivables report, and posts the entry to your general ledger automatically.
When to use it
Use this whenever you've completed work or delivered goods and need to request payment. Do not use invoices for internal cost tracking — use expenses for that instead.
Step by step
- Go to Invoices in the top menu
- Click New Invoice in the top right
- Type or select your customer name in the Customer field
- Add one or more line items — enter a description, quantity, and unit price for each
- Set the Due Date — this is the date by which your customer must pay
- Select a VAT rate for each line item (use 20% for standard-rated goods and services)
- Review the total at the bottom right
- Click Send to email the invoice immediately, or Save as Draft to review it first
