How to Run a Trial Balance

What this does

Lists every account in your chart of accounts with its debit or credit balance for the period. Total debits must equal total credits.

When to use it

Run before preparing year-end accounts or when investigating a discrepancy.

Step by step

1. Go to Reports → Trial Balance
2. Set the Period End date
3. Click Run Report
4. Check that the Total Debits and Total Credits rows match
5. Drill into any account by clicking its row
