Setting Up Break and Overtime Rules

Configure automatic break deductions and overtime calculations.

What this does

Break and overtime rules automatically calculate deductions and premium rates based on hours worked. This ensures compliance and accurate pay.

When to use it

Configure rules when you set up Timesheets, and update them when your policies change.

Step by step

  1. Go to Settings > Rules
  2. Configure Break Rules:
    • Auto-deduct breaks — automatically deduct break time from shifts longer than X hours
    • Break duration — e.g. 30 minutes for shifts over 6 hours
    • Paid or unpaid — whether breaks are paid
  3. Configure Overtime Rules:
    • Daily threshold — hours after which overtime applies (e.g. 8 hours)
    • Weekly threshold — weekly hours after which overtime applies (e.g. 40 hours)
    • Rate multiplier — e.g. 1.5x for overtime, 2x for double time
  4. Click Save
