GPS Verification and IP Tracking

How GPS and IP verification ensures accurate clock-in locations.

What this does

GPS verification checks that a worker is physically at (or near) their assigned work site when they clock in or out. IP tracking provides an additional layer of verification.

How it works

  • When a worker clocks in, their GPS coordinates are captured
  • The system compares their location to the site's registered coordinates
  • If the worker is within the configured radius, the clock event is approved
  • If outside the radius, the event is flagged for manager review

Configuration

  1. Go to Settings > Sites
  2. For each site, set:
    • GPS Coordinates — the site's latitude and longitude
    • Radius — acceptable distance from coordinates (default: 100 metres)
  3. Enable IP Tracking if you want to also log the worker's IP address
  4. Click Save

Tips

  • GPS accuracy depends on the worker's device — outdoor locations are more accurate than indoor
  • Set a larger radius for sites with large premises or poor GPS signal
  • Flagged events aren't rejected — they're highlighted for manager review
  • GPS pings are also recorded during shifts for ongoing location verification
