Tracking Materials and Costs

Record materials used on a job and track costs.

What this does

Materials tracking records what supplies were used on each job, including quantities and costs. This feeds into job costing.

When to use it

Add materials as they're purchased or used during a job.

Step by step

  1. Open the job record
  2. Click the Materials tab
  3. Click + Add Material
  4. Enter:
    • Item — name of the material (e.g. "15mm copper pipe")
    • Quantity — how many units
    • Unit Cost — price per unit
    • Supplier — where it was purchased (optional)
  5. Click Save
  6. The total materials cost updates automatically

Tips

  • Add materials as you go rather than waiting until the job is complete
  • Upload receipts by clicking the attachment icon
  • Materials costs are included in the job costing comparison
  • Frequently used materials can be added from your price list
