What this does
Chat triggers automatically send a message to website visitors when specific conditions are met — like spending a certain amount of time on a page or visiting the pricing page.
When to use it
Use triggers to proactively engage visitors who show buying intent.
Step by step
- Go to Chat > Settings > Triggers
- Click + New Trigger
- Configure the conditions:
- Page URL — trigger on specific pages (e.g.
/pricing) - Time on Page — trigger after X seconds
- Pages Viewed — trigger after visiting X pages
- Returning Visitor — trigger for repeat visitors
- Page URL — trigger on specific pages (e.g.
- Write the Message to send
- Set Frequency — once per session or once per visitor
- Click Save
Tips
- Don't over-trigger — one well-timed message is better than five interruptions
- Test triggers by visiting your site in an incognito window
- Monitor trigger performance in analytics to see which messages get responses
